The VELUX Solar Powered “Fresh Air” Skylight is designed to provide abundant natural light while opening to bring in fresh air. It operates on solar power, not your home’s electricity, qualifying your daylight project for the federal tax credit.

How To Get Your Tax Credit

Install Eligible Skylights

First, purchase and install any of the eligible products listed above before December 31, 2032.

Keep Your Receipts

Once your product is installed, keep your receipts for the total price paid (product and installation) and attach them to a completed Manufacturers Certification Statement. Your installer will provide the certification statement. Keep these forms for your records.

Fill Out IRS Tax Form 5695

When it’s time to file your taxes, fill out the IRS Residential Energy Efficient Property Tax Credit Form 5695. Enter the tax credit calculated on this form onto your IRS Form 1040 and submit your tax return to receive the credit.

IRS Notice 2009-41 suggests the taxpayer is not required to attach the certification statement to their tax return. However, you should retain this certification as part of your own tax records.

As in all tax matters, the taxpayer is advised to consult their tax professional before filing. VELUX America LLC assumes no liability regarding the homeowner’s ability to obtain tax credits.
