Every Skylight System includes a glass skylight, a pre-installed, solar-powered, room-darkening white shade, and a pre-programmed remote control for the shade. Solar Powered Fresh Air Skylight Systems, Electric Fresh Air Skylight Systems, and Manual Fresh Air Skylight Systems also include a pre-programmed remote control for the skylight, allowing you to open or close the skylights at your convenience.

Most VELUX skylights are sold as a system and come with a pre-installed, solar-powered shade and remote control(s). Certain speciality skylights and commercial products are not available as a system. Be sure to discuss product details with your installer before installation.

The Skylight System comes standard with a white solar-powered, room-darkening shade. Shades in other colors and styles, including light-filtering, can be purchased separately as part of a special order or after your Skylight System is installed. Whatever shade style you’re looking for, our Design & Product Advisors can help you select the right option for your space.

VELUX insect screens are made of fine mesh in a metal frame that fits in the interior skylight frame. When the skylight is open, the screen prevents bugs from getting inside while still letting in ample natural light and fresh air.

Yes. If you install a Fresh Air Skylight System, you will receive pre-programmed remote controls, one for each the skylight and the shade. You can operate the skylight and shade separately using the different remotes.
To control all skylights and shades from one remote, separately or together, upgrade to the VELUX Touch or VELUX ACTIVE.
