Meet the VELUX Skylight System

Each Skylight System includes a VELUX glass skylight, a room-darkening, solar-powered skylight shade in white, and pre-paired remote controls for the shade and skylight (venting models only).

Certain venting model Skylight Systems also include an integrated rain sensor to close the system at the first sign of rain. All venting models come preinstalled with an insect screen.

Skylight Systems installed with VELUX flashing include eligibility for our industry-leading 10-year installation warranty, as well as our 20-year warranty on glass and 5-year warranty on shade and accessories.

Not all VELUX skylights are sold as part of the Skylight System, but most residential glass skylights are! Unless you opt for SkyMax, our large-span skylight, or a roof window, your skylight will most likely be part of the Skylight System program.

Custom shade colors and styles are available through our Shades Store. Skylights and custom shades can be ordered separately, but please allow additional shipping time for separate pieces.

Yes! Each solar-powered and electric venting Skylight System comes with two remotes: one to operate the skylight and one to operate the shade. You can also upgrade to the VELUX Touch remote to operate skylights and shades – separately or together – from one remote. Or upgrade to VELUX ACTIVE for smartphone control and the ability to automate your Skylight Systems.

Additionally, manual venting Skylight Systems include a remote to operate the shades and can be equipped with a telescopic control rode (out of reach applications) or an easy-turn control handle (for applications within reach).

The main benefit of the pre-installed shade is light control whenever you need it, as soon as your Skylight System is installed. While we love the abundant natural light that comes through a skylight, sometimes glare or heat can be too much. With the skylight shade and pre-paired remote, you can “turn off” your skylight anytime you need.

As a room-darkening shade with a double-pleated honeycomb structure in the fabric, the Skylight System shade also helps better insulate the window, making the entire system more energy efficient.
