PHILADELPHIA, PA – MAY 19-21, 2016 – VELUX® America now offers residential roof windows including a center-pivot model and a side-hinged roof access model. VELUX now offers its traditional top-hinged (GPU), center-pivot (GGU), and side-hinged (GXU) roof access models.

The top-hinged GPU roof window, long a staple in the VELUX line, offers convenient bottom handle operation – the perfect choice for loft conversions.

The GGU center-pivot roof window is convenient – even with furniture placed beneath the window. Low installation allows for more flexibility and better views.

The GXU side-hinged roof access window offers easy access to the roof for repairs and maintenance or for emergency egress. It can be installed as a left- or right-hinged window and features a locking device to keep the sash in open position when desired. There is a ventilation flap and pre-installed Pick&Click™ brackets for easy blind installation.

The one-of-a-kind deck mounted GDL Cabrio™ balcony roof window features dual-sash operation. This model is less expensive and much more functional than a traditional window dormer, while offering access to the outdoors at the roofline.

According to Ross Vandermark, national product manager for VELUX America, “this expansion of the roof window product line ensures that VELUX offers the broadest product program for all in-reach applications commonly found in above-garage bonus rooms, lofts and finished attic spaces.”

Roof windows, which are similar to skylights but are in-reach and hand-operated, feature a ventilation flap at the top that allows fresh air to enter the home at any time without the homeowner having to worry about security or bad weather. They can greatly increase the amount of natural light and fresh air in the home and the convenient top-, bottom-, or side-handle operation makes them a perfect choice for loft conversions and other in-reach applications.

For out-of-reach applications, VELUX solar powered fresh air skylights, along with solar powered blinds, as well as the installation costs for both products, are ideal and are eligible for a 30 percent Federal tax credit.
