Installation Process
Expert installation made easy.
VELUX® skylight systems and Sun Tunnel® Skylights can be installed in flat or vaulted ceilings in two worry-free phases: rooftop and interior. The pros at SWORD Roofing will recommend where skylight systems should be installed, so you can reap the maximum benefit from the natural light and fresh air they provide.
Installation Types
The Room
VELUX-trained pros will come inside for interior finish work and possible painting. If you have a flat ceiling, your installer will use drywall or other finish material to build a shaft from the skylight to direct the daylight into the room. This phase takes around half a day per skylight.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole and fasten the VELUX skylight to the roof with three layers of protection to prevent leaks. Depending on the circumstances such as roof pitch and weather, the rooftop phase can take between one and three days.

The Room
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole in the ceiling to install the lower portion of the reflective tube between the roof and ceiling.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole in the roof and install the top collar, the upper portion of the reflective tunnel, the lens and the flashing.

The Room
There may be a small amount of interior drywall work depending on your replacement situation, but the majority of the replacement process will take place on the roof.

We had our roof, skylights, and gutters replaced by SWORD about a month ago. They explained the process in simple, understandable terms. Their cleanup crew did a great job of collecting any old shingles, nails, and other small items. Our old roof would have rain leak occasionally into our home, but since we have had our new roof installed, we haven’t had a single leak! We can rest easy at night knowing SWORD did an excellent job. I got 3 estimates for my replacement skylight, and Sword Roofing was the lowest which made me happy. Everyone showed up on time, did a great job and left the workplace neat and tidy. Curry Went the extra mile to make me happy an even came back and cleaned the inside of the new skylight for me.

Mr. Dumford and his team were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The lady who answered the phone was wonderful and said that Mr. Dumford could come out a few days later and he got here on the right day at the right time. I had him come out to quote me on a skylight replacement to fix or give to new homeowners ( we were selling at the time) and he was very honest, professional, and genuinely nice. He gave me a reasonable quote that day and we ended up selling the home a few weeks later. Two weeks before the move out date, the old skylight started leaking due to weather, so I called Mr. Dumford and he was able to fit me into the schedule as soon as he could. The employees got here on time, but due to weather, needed to wait it out for a bit so that the rain and snow didn't come into the house. As soon as it stopped, they went to work, got it done in a few hours and the gentleman told me they needed to repair something they mistakingly broken and I truly appreciated that. I give Mr. Dumford and his team 1,000 stars!

The Sword team did an amazing job on our roof. We had extreme water damage surrounding our skylight and our roof had started leaking inside before we even realized it. We worked with Johnny and Cody first as they were very responsive and came out to give us a free inspection and estimate. We immediately got our quote within the week and were pleasantly surprised by the overall cost. They have many wonderful options to finance and we were approved quickly. Due to the severity of our damage/leak they were able to get us on the schedule pretty fast. The crew lead by Curry was very professional, timely, and did a great job of cleaning up afterwards. The communication with this company was outstanding. They were so fast to answer any questions or concerns we had and kept us in the loop the entire day with texts, drone photos and calls. Our roof has never looked better! We highly recommend this company! This was probably the easiest "construction" we have had to deal with while being homeowners. We are extremely satisfied with the work completed by SWORD Roofing on our roof and gutters. We worked closely with Justin on an insurance claim for hail damage. The entire team was fantastic. They did a complete 2 layer tear off and roof replacement including repair/replacement of damaged OSB wood and skylight. The work was completed and cleaned up on one day! They also replaced our gutters and downspouts with 6” gutters and installed gutter guards. We will be recommending SWORD Roofing to family and friends and are willing to be a reference.

Dream contractors! Curant was responsive and helpful, answering all of my questions, very quickly and thoroughly leading up to the install date. The guys showed up to put on our new roof, on time, and worked super efficiently, in and out in just over 24 hours. Constant cleanup meant all of my landscaping was protected and no roofing nails left on my property for my kids, pets or myself to step on or my car to drive over!! Joe and/or Curry was on the property throughout the entire installation overseeing the work and making sure to provide installation updates as well as checking to make sure I didn’t have any questions. Including a new Sun Tunnel install as well, these guys went above and beyond what I expected, making a new roof project, easy. I have already recommended Curant to friends and will continue to do so!
