When replacing a double sliding glass door, we found some significant water damage to the header and footer. Bull Construction was amazing and helped fix the issue. I am looking for quotes on replacing the flooring in my condo and Shawn gave me some really good advice and was patient teaching me some of the terminology. I have not purchased any service yet, but I liked his attitude and appreciated his expertise. UPDATE as of May 15, 2026: I ended up hiring Bull C&R to replace my floors. They undercut the other quotes I received and did an amazing job! I'm very happy with the clean and professional results. I appreciate their attention to details as well. The crew was friendly and professional and didn't hesitate to get my input when certain project-specific decisions were needed. And they listened to my requests and concerns throughout the process as well. And even after the job was complete, I accidentally messed up some wet caulk, but they came back the next day to fix that too even though it was my fault! The only criticism I have is that you will need some patience as you communicate leading up to the project starting. Their text responses were slow at times - better to call if you need a prompt reply. But I'm not going to drop a star for that because everything else exceeded expectations.

Bull did an absolutely amazing job installing a brand-new skylight for me. They were very flexible in working with the engineer that completed the drawings for the skylight and the permitting office. I wouldn't hesitate to work with them again in the future. They are responsive, careful, trustworthy, professional, and most of all, their work is excellent.

I am extremely pleased with the service of Bull Construction and Roofing. We recently bought a home knowing the roof needed a full replacement, as numerous shingles were missing and we had an active leak in the attic. This was also in the middle of January/February when we had the crazy winter weather and super freezing temperatures so needed to get this done quickly I called six different roofing contractors, to get estimates. Shawn McDiffitt, the estimator and owner, was fantastic. He came to our property and did a thorough overview of the GAF Timberline HDZ Shingles, including the ice and water shield storm guard, roof deck underlayment, and strip shingles for the edges of the roof since we are connected with neighbors as a townhome. Also inspected the attic to see the several plywoods that needed to be replaced, the active leak, and the needed removal of the attic fan since we have the ridge vent of the roof to use, and moving our bathroom exhaust pipe as it did not go out to the roof but stopped in the attic. We discussed pricing, noting those from the competitors and beat the competitors for the Roof Replacement + Gutter replacement. I am SO thankful for Shawn as well as Elmar, Diego, Lily, Christian, and Chelsea for their professionalism and service throughout this entire process. The roof and gutters look amazing. They were also able to work on the back gutters which connects with both my neighbors and did an excellent job doing so. I strongly recommend anyone needing a roof replacement or repair/gutters replaced or repair with Bull Construction and Roofing. My neighbors too were super appreciative! You will find in the photos the before and after, including examples of the plywood they replaced, and also tarping the roof shingles that were missing several days in advance of the roof replacement. Shawn McDiffitt, the estimator, was easy to work with, and the roofing crew was efficient and speedy. They replaced our Velux skylights (2) in our kitchen addition in one day. We appreciated their promptness because wet weather was predicted, Diego finished the cleanup the next day, clearing our backyard of the shingles and other debris that had been left. Our new Velux skylights are great!

Installing skylights can be a difficult undertaking. Depending on the slope of your roof and the depth of your house, the lightwells might rise to significant heights above your top floor. Our 2-story house was 36’ deep with an 8/12 roof pitch. For an ideal installation (smooth, reflective lightwell walls), this means using 4’ x 12’ sheetrock panels. For two 2’ x 4’ skylights, you need nearly 270 sq ft of new “wall” – in your attic – and all of it must be insulated consistently (in our case R-30). 270 sqft is the equivalent of an 8’ high wall 34’ long. The level of effort involved and the associated logistics (working up to 20' above the top floor) is almost inconceivable. We asked Velux for certified installers in our area (Reston-Herndon-Sterling) and they gave us 3 names. We were most impressed with Bull Construction (Reston). The owners of the company – Elmar & Shawn – visited our jobsite at least once a day and dealt with all of our concerns. The final result could not have been better or more dramatic. Bull Construction was very punctual and easy to deal with. If you’re thinking about installing skylights, take it from us – get the Bull in your corner! Our family and friends inspected our 2 new skylights at Thanksgiving. Our nephew shook his head and said “that company could build the pyramids”. Yep.

My experience with Bull when my skylight malfunctioned during rain (mercifully, light) was simply extraordinary. Way, way out of the norm. Velux referred me to Bull and, even though I called out of hours, Sean was not just available but extraordinarily helpful, holding my hand as we worked through the possible issues carefully and thoroughly. I couldn't possibly have asked for more. The following morning, Diego showed up as early as I could have wished, went through the possibilities with me again, and we worked out the problem. We had a free inspection & estimate done for our roof, because of a storm that came through on 8/7/23 with hail. There was damage & the roof was 18 years old; Wayne took care of everything & insurance covered the cost. Everything went well with the workers, excellent job, very professional. Fast forward to the severe thunderstorm/tornado (classified as a microburst) this past April. The area had a great deal of downed trees & roof damage. Concerned that we might have issues because of the severity of the storm, I contacted Bull Construction & Roofing. Dependable, experienced, skilled, fairly priced. One of my skylights was damaged in a storm and needed to be replaced. I happened to know the name of the manufacturer, so I looked for a certified installer nearest me. That was Bull Contruction and Roofing. They sent someone out the same day to give me an estimate. It took several days to get the estimate and when it came it was more money than I expected. I got a second estimate from a company I have used before which I know to be fairly priced and does good work. Their estimate was $500 more. In other words, Bull Contruction and Roofing's price was very good. Clearly, I am out of touch with construction costs. The order of the skylight and installation took a while but when they came, the installation was quick, neat, and watertight. I do not hesitate to recommend Bull Contruction and Roofing.

Bull Construction did a great job with my roof and getting the repair approved with my insurance. I've had bad luck with other roofing companies but decided to try again. Elmar did such great prep work up front that the insurance process went very smoothly and the whole job was approved. Elmar and Diego worked with me all along the way (even though we had to wait several months before the weather got warmer), were very helpful in figuring out colors, and when a window opened up with the weather, they were totally on top of it. It was essentially done in just over a day. I was very happy with the process and working with Elmar and his team throughout from start to finish. Insurance tried to deny my claim for 4 entire years! Shawn stayed the course and was able to push the claim through. Bull construction did a fantastic job at our house. We had pretty severe hail a year ago and we had no idea there was damage. Luckily bull was walking our neighborhood and came to our house and offered to do a free assessment of any damage. They ended up catching quite a bit. They saw damage on our siding, roof, gutters and downspout. We had a terrible time with our insurance company getting them to agree to a lot of the work that Bull said needed to be done in spite of us being able to visually confirm that there was damage. We had to have the insurance company come out three different times. Bull was able to fight for us and ended up getting our roof that was only 4 years old replaced. Many of my neighbors had their roofs replaced . They did an excellent job with the work. The gutters that they replaced is completely seamless and fabricated on site. It looks so much better than the one we had originally. They also upgraded our gutters to a larger size which will better accommodate the rain we get. They kept in great contact with us and were very professional. One of the owners even communicated with us about our project. My parents live down in Fairfax Virginia and I am definitely going to recommend this company to them the next time there is a storm The photos of the front of the house show the replaced gutters, downspouts and roof. Siding was not replaced there only on the side of the house.

Another roofing company was refusing to complete a Sun Tunnel installation inside my home.
