I assume adding "Southern Arizona" to their name is to come off as local but I was told they were busy with a job in California. The woman that actually did the scheduling was very friendly and seemed like she was actually doing something so I can't blame her. So she gets all three stars which is more than I'd like to give. I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. Skylights and roof are being taken care of elsewhere.

I cannot recommend Southern AZ Roof Associates enough! They just finished our roof (Dec 2021) and we are so happy with their work. Before they even started on our roof they came out to fix a leak before the rain came at no additional cost. They always came early and worked so hard all day. All of the guys were really friendly and answered the million questions we had. They also worked with our AC company to fix an issue we had and made sure everything was done right. Everyday they left our property looked spotless. They do great quality work and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to do their roof.

To say the work done by Southern Arizona Roof Associates was exceptional would be a true understatement of the quality, professionalism, courtesy and genuinely wanting to do a great job of replacing our cement tile roof. Although it was several months from the time I made the down payment for the job to the time they arrived to do the job (evidence they are much in demand and obvious testament to their workmanship), when they did arrive it was in full force with a crew of anywhere from 5 to 7 workers. One of the co-owners of the company, Rusty was on the job every day. He was always cordial and patiently answered any questions we had about the roof work. It was interesting to watch the crew work, they are poetry in motion and they are non-stop except for their lunch break. It was apparent by their friendly banter that they all got along and have worked together for some time. They always cleaned up at the end of the day keeping things spotless so you would never know they were there. On trash collection day the roofer’s trucks had blocked our driveway so one of the workers, without being asked, even rolled our trash bins out to the street for the collection truck to access the bins. As for the work itself, they carefully took off the existing tiles, removed the old wooden support slats, replaced any of the damaged plywood and eve trim that needed it (one area had significant damage requiring a fair amount of reconstructive carpentry work), replaced the roof underlayment with heavy duty “Weather Armor,” laid down new support slats that included a spacer to allow for air circulation (provides a cooler roof and house), and eve edging with vents to allow water to drain without hanging on the roof and rotting the wood. The new roof looks great and we even had SolarTubes installed that really brightened up the kitchen. We highly recommend Rusty and his team at Southern Arizona Roof Associates for anyone needing a new roof. They are top notch and a class act.

We had SO. AZ Roof Associates put a new roof on our home in early September, 2020. We had received a few other estimates and even though SO. AZ Roof Assoc. was not the least expensive, they had the best products compared to others. They did not skimp on the details. The review below is a previous review I left a couple years ago when they did a complete re-roof of my daughter's Tucson house: If you just want old technology roof repair or replacement, go elsewhere. If you want sub-contractors working on your roof, go elsewhere. If you want to hire a large company with different people on different days doing your roofing with no collective clue of what has been done, how the project is planned and scoped out, and what needs to be done, go elsewhere. If you a want rock-bottom pricing, go elsewhere. If you want a job to just "get by" to buy you time or to simply make the roof look presentable or functional, go elsewhere. If you don't care if a roofer gives you a 3, 5, 8, or 10 year warranty on work, go elsewhere. Not me! I did not want my 2 minor leaks on my 20-yr-old house to eventually rot the OSB/plywood paneled, concrete tiled roof causing mold, mildew, and/or termite infestation, plus damaging wooden roof joists and roof construct, and ruining attic insulation and ceiling drywall ultimately requiring replacement at an overall much greater cost in the future. I chose their relatively small company for MANY reasons. Note the TOP customer reviews. I wanted to get almost the same 6 to 8 employees on the job the entire 4 days to do a complete re-roof of my 1,600 sq ft house. They did not take short-cuts, even staying on premises every day the entire time (one short rest break on-site, and no lunch breaks), and worked as a team in every aspect. My house was no "job site". They walked the premises twice daily to pick up ANY foreign objects (e.g. nails, trim, broken tile piece) on the ground and left ZERO equipment or supplies or trash at my house at the end of each day. Dan (the owner) and his employees are not simply roofers. They are craftsman and artisans. They use quality tools, equipment, and building supplies. They have impeccable standards for precision tile cuts, flashing, sealing, and every roofing tasks. I was up on the roof 3-4 times daily for 4 days to see every step they took, and took pictures from start to finish. I give Southern AZ Roof Associates my highest rating and at my age, I have been around long enough to know an outstanding job when I experience it first-hand. I had roof issues that I had been neglecting to address for years that needed to be taken care of. I had a few leaks that were getting worse and monsoon season was hitting them hard. I had known Dan Thatcher from Southern Arizona Roof Associates for years through a previous business relationship as a client of mine so I knew is company from the inside. I knew his commitment to the quality of the work he does and his stringent hiring practices. I knew his crew personally, these guys are workhorses. Dan and his brother are second generation roofers with about 50 years experience and Dan is a graduate of the Eller School of Business at the U of A, and he runs his business professionally. I finally stopped ignoring the problem and had Dan come down to take a look and give an estimate. He throroughly assessed and explained and detailed my options. They did a complete rebuild of my roof without having to replace it (I have a flat roof that was having major puddleling and if neglected further could cave in). They were in and out on time. The work was exact and immaculate. The problems ceased immediately right in the middle of monsoon season. They cleaned up so you could not tell they were even there and they were on budget to the dime. This is a well run company with the best roofing crew in Tucson. If only all contractors and business people had the commitment, excellence in execution, passion for what they do and follow through as Dan and his team the world would be a better place.

We have both flat and tile roofs, Dan has provided excellent service for our multi-roof 30 year old home. When we updated the kitchen he installed 2 solar tubes and the new vent hood roof exhaust. Courteous service and attention to detail have made us feel secure and safe with our new Dan Thatcher roofs. Needed a reroof done on our 28yr. old raised tile roof. We are the original owners. I did my homework and had eight different well-known Tucson/Phx. Companies give me estimates. I chose So. Az. Roof Associates for the right reasons and am very pleased with the entire process. D. Thatcher (owner) did the estimate. 25 yrs. Experience from multiple generations of family business. He was very thorough in the inspection and explanation of the entire process. Had samples of the material they use and spoke very highly and confidently of his entire crew. They are experienced and have worked together for years. This is a well-prepared team! The estimate fell in middle cost wise of the other eight companies. Their experience and knowledge was evident as there were some un-foreseen issues during the reroof. Very prepared, handled things professionally and with detail. I really appreciated how respectful they were of the property and all the surroundings. They even changed my dog’s fresh water at the end of each day. Daily cleanup at the end of each day was consistent and done with care. Very clean, pleased with it all. First class company. I highly recommend them!
