Installation Process
Expert installation made easy.
VELUX® skylight systems and Sun Tunnel® Skylights can be installed in flat or vaulted ceilings in two worry-free phases: rooftop and interior. The pros at Rocky Mountain Skylights will recommend where skylight systems should be installed, so you can reap the maximum benefit from the natural light and fresh air they provide.
Installation Types
The Room
VELUX-trained pros will come inside for interior finish work and possible painting. If you have a flat ceiling, your installer will use drywall or other finish material to build a shaft from the skylight to direct the daylight into the room. This phase takes around half a day per skylight.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole and fasten the VELUX skylight to the roof with three layers of protection to prevent leaks. Depending on the circumstances such as roof pitch and weather, the rooftop phase can take between one and three days.

The Room
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole in the ceiling to install the lower portion of the reflective tube between the roof and ceiling.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole in the roof and install the top collar, the upper portion of the reflective tunnel, the lens and the flashing.

The Room
There may be a small amount of interior drywall work depending on your replacement situation, but the majority of the replacement process will take place on the roof.

VELUX-trained pros will get measurements from your existing skylights to ensure your replacements are a perfect fit, then they’ll replace your skylights

Omg!! I’m so excited. This was a fantastic experience and Ean and his helper Zach were amazing efficient and friendly. We have a beautiful tubular skylight in place of the light fixture! This skylight includes LED lights for night too! All around wonderful experience and really great pricing! 5/5 would definitely recommend!

Rocky Mountain Skylights did a great job - Ian installed two solar tubes in our kitchen. They look great and the light into the kitchen is amazing. They were easy to work with and charged us less than the bid because our rafters prevented installation of the larger tubes we requested. The smaller ones work great. We would definitely use them again.

Ean was awesome to work with and did a great job on our Sun Tunnels. He was friendly and took the time to get to know us, and to help us figure out what would fit our non-standard space. Agreed with another reviewer that he takes pride in his work and makes sure to do things right. He also was very careful with dust control, which we appreciated with our newborn baby there. He did reschedule a few times, but always due to weather that made the job infeasible that day, and was very responsive with rescheduling.
