Installation Process
Expert installation made easy.
VELUX® skylight systems and Sun Tunnel® Skylights can be installed in flat or vaulted ceilings in two worry-free phases: rooftop and interior. The pros will recommend where skylight systems should be installed, so you can reap the maximum benefit from the natural light and fresh air they provide.
Installation Types
The Room
VELUX-trained pros will come inside for interior finish work and possible painting. If you have a flat ceiling, your installer will use drywall or other finish material to build a shaft from the skylight to direct the daylight into the room. This phase takes around half a day per skylight.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole and fasten the VELUX skylight to the roof with three layers of protection to prevent leaks. Depending on the circumstances such as roof pitch and weather, the rooftop phase can take between one and three days.

The Room
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole in the ceiling to install the lower portion of the reflective tube between the roof and ceiling.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole in the roof and install the top collar, the upper portion of the reflective tunnel, the lens and the flashing.

The Room
There may be a small amount of interior drywall work depending on your replacement situation, but the majority of the replacement process will take place on the roof.

I just got a new place, and the skylights were slightly leaky. By slightly leaky, I mean that I had an indoor water feature anytime it would rain, and buckets that I put on my floor to prevent damage. It was a lot of water. Todd and the team were available within a few days, came and did an outstanding job, done in only a few hours, but they had completely re-flashed the skylights fixing the issue that allowed in the water. It absolutely poured rain the day after the fix, and not a drop came inside. Best part, the (very reasonable) estimate given for the job was *exactly* the price charged. Very happy with the work done and the crew was very easy to deal with. Highly recommend using them.

What a great difference these skylights make. Northern Ohio Skylight came in with a good estimate, and a good installation. Todd (owner) kept us informed of the schedule, and was on site to make sure it was done correctly. Glad we did this and used Northern Ohio, I would use them again.

We needed multiple skylights replaced and contacted various roofers before finding Northern Ohio Skylight Solutions on the Velux website. Multiple companies sent out a representative but never gave an estimate and/or said the job was too big. NOSS gave us the most favorable estimate and could finish the job the quickest. Charles was extremely responsive throughout the entire process. Came and discussed in detail the options, the downsides of each, recommendations (actually recommended against getting 2 skylights which would have cost me more and I probably would have paid for!). Skylight was placed in a little less than 2 days just as he said and it looks great! There were some paint issues slightly mismatching that he even corrected and it looks great. No regrets going with Northern Ohio Skylight Solutions!

I had 3 quotes for a replacement on the skylight in our bathroom. Northern Ohio Skylight Solutions was the best of the 3 for identification of the original problem that required a skylight replacement, communication of the process, and the professionalism in which they handled the installation. Included in the installation was a walk through on hooking up the skylight shade to our router and for stand alone use with the remote control. Northern Ohio Skylight Solutions was not the least expensive of the 3 (but they were close), but they were worth it.

Excellent experience with Charles! He put in a high quality skylight replacement for my Ryan Homes original skylights from 1999 that were beginning to leak.
