Installation Process

Expert installation made easy.

VELUX® skylight systems and Sun Tunnel® Skylights can be installed in flat or vaulted ceilings in two worry-free phases: rooftop and interior. The pros will recommend where skylight systems should be installed, so you can reap the maximum benefit from the natural light and fresh air they provide.

Installation Types

The Room

VELUX-trained pros will come inside for interior finish work and possible painting. If you have a flat ceiling, your installer will use drywall or other finish material to build a shaft from the skylight to direct the daylight into the room. This phase takes around half a day per skylight.

The Rooftop

VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole and fasten the VELUX skylight to the roof with three layers of protection to prevent leaks. Depending on the circumstances such as roof pitch and weather, the rooftop phase can take between one and three days.
2-3+ Days Total*

The Rooftop

Jeff and his team were excellent. They communicated well, arrived on time, and managed the removal of our old skylight and installation of our replacement skylight in a courteous and professional manner.

I had two tubular skylights installed this week. I had one installed in the front hallway that was always dark. The 10" really lit up this area and am very pleased. I had the 14" installed in the kitchen and it also really lit up the area. Very pleased. Jeff the owner was very communicative and came out to my house to help with suggestions for locating. Overall, very satisfied with Midwest Skylights.
