Installation Process
Expert installation made easy.
VELUX® skylight systems and Sun Tunnel® Skylights can be installed in flat or vaulted ceilings in two worry-free phases: rooftop and interior. The pros will recommend where skylight systems should be installed, so you can reap the maximum benefit from the natural light and fresh air they provide.
Installation Types
The Room
VELUX-trained pros will come inside for interior finish work and possible painting. If you have a flat ceiling, your installer will use drywall or other finish material to build a shaft from the skylight to direct the daylight into the room. This phase takes around half a day per skylight.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole and fasten the VELUX skylight to the roof with three layers of protection to prevent leaks. Depending on the circumstances such as roof pitch and weather, the rooftop phase can take between one and three days.

The Room
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole in the ceiling to install the lower portion of the reflective tube between the roof and ceiling.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole in the roof and install the top collar, the upper portion of the reflective tunnel, the lens and the flashing.

The Room
There may be a small amount of interior drywall work depending on your replacement situation, but the majority of the replacement process will take place on the roof.

I hired M&M Skylights to replace some blinds on my existing Velux skylights. They were very responsive to my questions, and brought enough employees to the house to do the job quickly. The new blinds are great and I had a great experience working with them.

They are truly VELUX skylight experts! From the initial visit and estimate right through the installation, they were professional and unstumpable no matter how many questions my wife and I asked. The work crew was on time and ready to work; topnotch workmanship on two replacement windows and two window shade backfits; they left the three worksites cleaner than when they started. M&M Skylights was super profissional and prompt. I had a leak in my previous skylight and after waisting time with a different roofing company I called M&M Skylights and they came right out to take measurements and to give me quote. They replaced my skylights shortly after that and we are now leak free with some nice new skylights.

I’ve used M&M skylights twice so far. The first being of an emergent matter due to a roof leak from old skylights. The second time, having to correct issues from a previous installer that was with our construction contractor, while also installing new ones elsewhere on our home. Scott was prompt in his response both times, going as far as to come inspect the work the other installer did and supplied me with a formal write up. Sue in the office is friendly and understanding, especially given my circumstances. Kenny, the tech/installer, came to my home each time with an assistant and he is such an asset to their team. Everyone I’ve encountered with the company has been friendly and personable, got the job done right, and in a timely manner. I have no issues recommending them… 100% worth it.

Upon deciding to replace 3 large curb skylights in my top floor condo in Portland, finding the right installer became the focus. After some considerable research and conversations with many installers, M&M Skylights became the clear choice. Bear in mind that in a condominium environment, all contractors must be approved by the association, and in my case the historical district of Portland. Upon submitting my request to both organizations, highlighting M&M and Velux, I immediately received approval. Scott and his installers are absolutely excellent. The turnkey installation, including finish out (trim and paint), was not what I was expecting. When they were done, it looked as if the new skylights were always there. Tim reviewed the details of the installation before work began, and once I approved, he and his team installed all 3 skylights in one day. Speed was not the issue, quality was. I got both! If you're in the market for top quality Velux skylights, frankly the best, and a solid installer... call M&M. Their office manager Sue was also highly professional and kept me up to date with all pre-install requirements and installation scheduling. She's a pleasure to work with.

Wonderful results and experience with M&M Skylights! They came in with a fair price for a skylight for my attic! Delighted with the new skylights installed by M&M. The old skylights and the rotten wood completely disappeared and the new windows are solidly constructed and look great allowing such light in ! I wish each of the rooms in my home had a M&M skylight in it. They cleaned up and the rooms looked cleaner and brighter after they finished than before they arrived. Great crew!
