Installation Process
Expert installation made easy.
VELUX® skylight systems and Sun Tunnel® Skylights can be installed in flat or vaulted ceilings in two worry-free phases: rooftop and interior. The pros will recommend where skylight systems should be installed, so you can reap the maximum benefit from the natural light and fresh air they provide.
Installation Types
The Room
VELUX-trained pros will come inside for interior finish work and possible painting. If you have a flat ceiling, your installer will use drywall or other finish material to build a shaft from the skylight to direct the daylight into the room. This phase takes around half a day per skylight.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole and fasten the VELUX skylight to the roof with three layers of protection to prevent leaks. Depending on the circumstances such as roof pitch and weather, the rooftop phase can take between one and three days.

The Room
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole in the ceiling to install the lower portion of the reflective tube between the roof and ceiling.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole in the roof and install the top collar, the upper portion of the reflective tunnel, the lens and the flashing.

The Room
There may be a small amount of interior drywall work depending on your replacement situation, but the majority of the replacement process will take place on the roof.

Kellan at Light Benders was a huge help on short notice. We were in the middle of a project and needed just a few skylight components for six different skylights on short notice. They would've been a special order item and taken several weeks to arrive from the factory, which would've thrown a big wrench into our plans. Kellan was able to find the six skylights in stock in their warehouse and was willing to open them up to sell us only the components we needed, and then re-order those same parts to replenish his stock. That is a rare level of service these days. We are grateful for the incredible service. Thank you!

We had a great experience with Light Benders! The entire team from the front office to the install crew were incredibly easy to work with through the entire process. We had two large skylights installed in our living room that open and close and have blackout shades. They even programmed the skylights to operate from our phones as well as remote control! Left our living room spotless, and only took one day for the entire job.

Excellent experience from consultation, acceptance, skylight order, and completion of project within two weeks. Rather than repair our leaking 18 year old open type Velux skylight, we chose a Velux fixed model (FS) with solar shade. With the 30% tax credit, the new unit costs only a little more than repairing the old skylight. Kellen and the team did a fantastic job! Great customer service with arranging times to get the quote and scheduling the projects. The installers were professional and kind and they did a fantastic job from start to finish. We have used Light Benders for three different projects now. We liked our first set of Solar Tubes so much we had more installed. The second set were extremely tricky because of the drastic sloped roof angle, but they got it done and it looks awesome! The third project was adding skylights to our patio in the back. This project also turned out fantastic! It feels like a new house with all of the light we have coming in! I highly recommend Light Benders for all of your skylight and SolarTube needs.

Having a source of natural light is a blessing. The kitchen area of our home is centrally located, thus no natural light reaches there. The install of a Velux skylight was a big factor in providing much needed light. I love the remote features, especially the sun shade. Light Benders team did a nice job. The biggest challenges were some communication hiccups and schedule changes on my side, and staff illness. Sometimes you have to be flexible.

We had a Sun Tunnel installed in a secondary bathroom with no windows. Wow, what a difference! From the estimate to installation, the process was smooth and worry free. Communication with scheduling was excellent. Would highly recommend Light Benders!

I scheduled installation of 4 Sun Tunnels. Kelen and Hunter arrived on time. They were very professional and patient with all my questions. They worked quickly and were very experienced with the installation of the Sun Tunnels and where they should be located in each room. Once they got on my roof they found a couple problems with my roof and actually bought some parts when they went to lunch and fixed my roof! I was so impressed and thankful! Nicest guys ever that I have had working at my house and left it clean like they hadn't been there. It's been 1 mon since installation and I am so glad I got the Sun Tunnels. They bring in a lot of light, they're cool looking, perfect installation, saving $$ (hardly turn on bathroom lights now)! Below is pic of bathroom with no windows all the light is from Sun Tunnel. They just make me happy! Thanks Light Benders!!!
