Installation Process
Expert installation made easy.
VELUX® skylight systems and Sun Tunnel® Skylights can be installed in flat or vaulted ceilings in two worry-free phases: rooftop and interior. The pros will recommend where skylight systems should be installed, so you can reap the maximum benefit from the natural light and fresh air they provide.
Installation Types
The Room
VELUX-trained pros will come inside for interior finish work and possible painting. If you have a flat ceiling, your installer will use drywall or other finish material to build a shaft from the skylight to direct the daylight into the room. This phase takes around half a day per skylight.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole and fasten the VELUX skylight to the roof with three layers of protection to prevent leaks. Depending on the circumstances such as roof pitch and weather, the rooftop phase can take between one and three days.

The Room
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole in the ceiling to install the lower portion of the reflective tube between the roof and ceiling.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole in the roof and install the top collar, the upper portion of the reflective tunnel, the lens and the flashing.

The Room
There may be a small amount of interior drywall work depending on your replacement situation, but the majority of the replacement process will take place on the roof.

VELUX-trained pros will get measurements from your existing skylights to ensure your replacements are a perfect fit, then they’ll replace your skylights

I love it. Professionally installed and hauled the junk skylight away. Mine has a remotely controlled shade that keeps harsh sunlight out, that heats up my living room during these hot days of summer. Friendly installer, wrapped up the job in just a few hours.

This is my fifth tunnel. Lee and his team are so proficient. I can't recommend them enough. The Sun Tunnels changed my home so dramatically and reduced my electric bill.

We had a dark hallway and had a Velux light tunnel installed. Lee arrived at the appointed time, did a very professional installation and cleaned up thoroughly afterward. The hallway is now so much brighter it is hard to describe. I originally wondered how much light the unit would produce on overcast days but I have been amazed how well it functions. It includes a solar night light so even at night the hallway remains well lit. The night light is removable should we desire, but we like it. Lee followed up by providing information explaining how we can get a tax credit for the unit. Overall, we love the unit and found Lee a pleasure to work with.

Very happy with Lee from Houseworks as well as Lazaro the installer. The whole process from requesting to be contacted to installed was less than 5 weeks. Everyone was very personable and professional. They may not be the least expensive but if you want a great experience, timely communication, with low customer effort, I recommend Velux, Lee with Houseworks.

My home has been completely transformed by these skylights. I had old yellowed skylights that they removed and replaced with Velux skylights. It's so much brighter in my home. Definitely worth the investment. Lee was very knowledgeable and was very responsive on giving an estimate for the job as well as answering my many questions. The installer Seth did a fantastic job and cleaned up after he was done. The finish is flawless and words can't describe how beautiful these skylights are. Highly recommend this company.

This company installed a Velux Sun Tunnel in my kitchen. Seth the installer was very competent and easily installed the Sun Tunnel in about 4 hours. Our kitchen use to be dark until about 4pm now it's bright with natural light all day. Will have another one install later. Thanks Houseworks Daylighting Solutions for doing an excellent job.

Super happy with our new Velux SunTunnel! Seth did a great job on the installation, taking extra time to make sure it was in exactly the right place. I had my second skylight installed yesterday. Lee Collins and his installer Seth Keller of Clive, Iowa do absolutely beautiful work. Seth is a practical and meticulous artist, and Lee comes to visit ahead of time to determine exactly what's needed. Brilliant work, brilliant light!
