Installation Process
Expert installation made easy.
VELUX® skylight systems and Sun Tunnel® Skylights can be installed in flat or vaulted ceilings in two worry-free phases: rooftop and interior. The pros at Connecticut Skylights will recommend where skylight systems should be installed, so you can reap the maximum benefit from the natural light and fresh air they provide.
Installation Types
The Room
VELUX-trained pros will come inside for interior finish work and possible painting. If you have a flat ceiling, your installer will use drywall or other finish material to build a shaft from the skylight to direct the daylight into the room. This phase takes around half a day per skylight.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole and fasten the VELUX skylight to the roof with three layers of protection to prevent leaks. Depending on the circumstances such as roof pitch and weather, the rooftop phase can take between one and three days.
2-3+ Days Total*
The Room
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole in the ceiling to install the lower portion of the reflective tube between the roof and ceiling.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will cut a hole in the roof and install the top collar, the upper portion of the reflective tunnel, the lens and the flashing.
2 Hours*
The Room
There may be a small amount of interior drywall work depending on your replacement situation, but the majority of the replacement process will take place on the roof.
The Rooftop
VELUX-trained pros will get measurements from your existing skylights to ensure your replacements are a perfect fit, then they’ll replace your skylights
1 Day Total*

We had an older, leaking Velux. I called CT Skylights, and Frank responded quickly and thoroughly. He came out, assessed the issue, and ordered and installed a replacement within one week of my call. Very pleased.

Connecticut Skylights...Above and beyond! Frank Corrado of CT Skylights is a knowledgeable professional from beginning to end of a roofing project and even goes above and beyond the scope of work! He identified many issues that I had with my leaky low pitch large roof and incorrect skylights & installation of those said skylights by other roofers. He knew exactly what I needed for a new roof and framing & installation for 3 skylights. His impressive crew had to level my roof out (which I had no idea it wasn't level!) in various areas to accommodate the rolled roofing product I was going with to prevent any & all leaking. His contract was very detailed and I was impressed with his availability to answer many of my questions. Because of the interior damage that I incurred, I put a claim in to my home insurance company. What also sets Frank apart from other contractors is his experience with Insurance Claims and offered to speak on my behalf with the claim Adjuster so I didn't have to be the "go-between". He knew I had structural issues and communicated that effectively with the Adjuster. His pricing is very reasonable and he didn't try to upcharge me on anything that I did not agree to or didn't need. Despite his very busy schedule, he still came out every day to monitor the progress of my roof and his crew, who were very friendly and also professional. I very highly recommend Frank for your next roofing project, commercial or residential, and especially if you have a flat or low-pitch roof with or without skylights.
