Creating a brighter, more inspirational office environment
At the US Ironworkers Headquarters, two large translucent panel systems were leaking and deteriorating. It was failing badly and needed to be replaced.
The VMS Ridgelights provided the best solution. It is a complete unitized system that is fitted over the opening on a site-built curb. Available in fixed or venting, VMS Ridgelight comes in custom sizing, colors, glazing and with custom-built shades. There are 2 VMS Ridgelights on site totaling 94 units installed at 33-degree pitch.
Due to the flexibility of VELUX standard module sizing, we were able to replace the old system and re-use the steel curbs and framing AND NOT have to manufacture custom size modules. This saved the customer a lot of money. High efficiency TYPE 11 glazing was used. The exterior pane is tempered, the interior is laminated (and meets the OSHA 1200lb fall protection test), Argon gas infill is between the panes and Low-E coastings all help to provide a very energy-efficient .24 solar heat gain coefficient glazing system.
Project took three men two weeks to complete. No added sealants or caulking was used to ensure water-tightness.
