Although the Bank of America Child Care Center occupies one square block of downtown Charlotte, it presents a residential face to neighboring homes on all sides. To the children who arrive everyday, it extends a friendly smile and an invitation to stay awhile. Numerous studies of children show that those exposed to longer periods of natural light are healthier, happier and are higher achievers. So, to keep the center bright and cheerful, the architects added plenty of VELUX® skylights. For instance, wide high-volume corridors that connect the building clusters are lit with skylights. These passageways are so pleasant, they are used for gatherings and for interior play spaces.
