Sunscreening protects in different ways

Which sunscreening to use and when
All VELUX sunscreening products will to some extent improve the U-value of the window. The capability of windows and window panes to insulate is measured in U-values. The lower the U-value, the better the capability of a window or window pane to insulate. The use of sunscreening improves the window's U-value significantly. The diagram shows insulation capabilities of different products measured against sun rays and heat loss respectively.

The illustration shows the value for the type with the highest insulation capability. For example, different types of roller blinds insulate to different extents. Look at potential minimum and maximum values in the diagram. Move the mouse over the product name for further information.

A   Values are an expression of the transparency of the blind itself and do not account for the border effect between cloth and side rails/window sash.

B   Calculations are based on a size S08 window with double layered energy glass (a --59 window). In cases where the roof window has been fitted with an old or inferiorly insulated pane, the energy gain by mounting sunscreening will be even greater.

Measurements and calculations are in accordance with ISO 12567-2 and ISO 15099.
